Our story

Tenuta di Squarano, the historic home of Marchesi Fumanelli, dominates a hillside in the heart of Valpolicella Classica: a natural amphitheater of cypress trees, vineyards and centuries of winemaking wisdom. Founded in 1470 on the remains of ancient Roman installations of the gens Octavia, it still preserves artifacts and inscriptions, along with the ruins of a temple dedicated to the goddess Flora, that testify to a millennia-long bond between man and vine.

For more than half a millennium, our family has cultivated Valpolicella's native varieties with dedication, passing on winemaking knowledge through 28 generations. Today, the rigor of tradition is blended with environmentally friendly innovation: exclusively manual harvesting, vinification in micro-lots and sustainable agronomic practices that protect the land.

The grapes come only from our 25 hectares of property, characterized by mineral-rich limestone soils and a unique microclimate, tempered by the breezes of Lake Garda and protected by the Lessini Mountains, ideal conditions for Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and the other historic grapes. Each cluster is hand-selected to preserve the purity of the fruit intact from its origin.

The result is a collection of wines that elegantly expresses Squarano's identity: refined bottles that tell the story of history, culture and nature with integrity, refinement and exclusivity. Each sip is an invitation to share our heritage, a bridge between past and future that is renewed vintage after vintage.

Squarano Estate has dominated the hills of Valpolicella Classica since 1470, nestled in a single plot that embraces the villa 360 degrees, offering a variety of exposures and microclimates ideal for vines.
Since then, our family has been cultivating these same lands with dedication: 28 generations who have preserved the landscape, respected nature and made wine their distinctive signature.
Today we produce exclusively from grapes grown by us, hand-picked and processed with a harmonious balance of tradition, artisanal savoir-faire and sustainable technology.
